Comparatives & Superlatives

Kısa sıfatlar: -er / -est

Tek heceli sıfatlarda: -er (daha) ve the -est (en). old → older → the oldest. Yazım: -e ile bitiyorsa sadece -r (nice → nicer); sessiz-sesli-sessiz ise harf çiftlenir (big → bigger); sessiz + y ise -ier (easy → easier, happy → happiest). İki heceli olup -y ile bitenler de bu grupta sayılır.

Uzun sıfatlar: more / the most

İki hece ve üzeri sıfatlarda ek yerine kelime kullanılır: expensive → more expensive → the most expensive. Aynı şekilde: interesting, beautiful, difficult, important, comfortable. Asla ikisini birden kullanmayın — “more bigger” hatalıdır.

Düzensiz karşılaştırmalar

good → better → the best · bad → worse → the worst · far → further / farther → the furthest · little → less → the least · many/much → more → the most. Bunlar ezberdir ve en sık kullanılanlardır.

than, as … as ve diğer kalıplar

Karşılaştırmada bağlaç than'dir (from değil!): She is taller than me. Eşitlik için as … as: He is as tall as his father. (babası kadar uzun) Olumsuzu: not as expensive as (… kadar pahalı değil). Fark belirtme: much bigger (çok daha büyük), a bit cheaper (biraz daha ucuz). Giderek artma: better and better.
